Do you sell to patients or physicians?

We sell only to licensed health care practitioners. If you are a patient and would like to order these tests, simply ask your health care provider to help you do so.

Will the GENIE test work on patients of any age?

This test can be performed on anyone but its optimized to work on adults ranging in age from 25-65. Our research has shown that pediatric CIRS is strikingly similar to adult CIRS, however, we have not verified normal ranges for pediatric patients. With the understanding that many genes will have similar expression values between adults and children, some genes will not and we can only compare the results of any patient to normal adult gene expression.

How long will the test take?

The GENIE test involves several steps and each step must pass a rigorous quality control and quality assurance process. If any step in the process does not meet our QC standards, we will need to repeat that step. This means processing times will vary, but you can expect your results anywhere from 2-4 weeks after our lab receives your blood sample. After the results pass through scientific review, they undergo a medical review ,this usually takes less than 72 hours. **Please check our homepage for processing time updates. We are experiencing delays due to COVID supply chain interruptions for critical processing reagents.

Does the sample require special handling? Do you have instructions and forms on the website?

Yes, the sample does require special handling. You can view and download directions on how to handle the blood sample and return the sample back to our lab. We also have patient history forms that can be downloaded. Both these forms will be included as a hard copy when you order a test. If you lose either of these forms you can simply download another copy from the About GENIE section of our website.



How will I receive the results?

After the lab has performed the test, scientific review, followed by the medical review, your results will be transmitted to your health care provider and their office will notify you that your report is ready.



Can I get help with the report?

Yes. For a limited time, Dr Ritchie Shoemaker will include a complimentary evaluation of your GENIE report. If you have further questions about the report, Dr. Shoemaker is available for telephone consults for $100 per 20 minute call. Instructions for arranging a telephone consult will be included with the report.


How do I set up an account?

At this stage, we do not offer accounts. Should you have a research project, or a similar effort involving multiple genie tests, please contact us at info@progenedx.com or call 410-957-1550 .


How do I get the blood to your lab for testing?

When you order a test we will send you a “kit” that contains two specialized blood draw tubes called PAXgene tubes and a cooler. There are explicit instructions with the kit that must be followed for the blood draw. Once you are ready to ship the blood back to our lab you must acquire dry ice and return the kit using overnight delivery, but return ship ONLY Monday - Wednesday and not over any holiday period. If there is a delay in shipping and tubes are warehoused over the weekend, the sample will likely be ruined by thawing. Blood samples in the PAXgene tubes can be safely stored in a non defrosting -20 degree C freezer until proper shipping arrangements can be made.



As a health care provider, can I order tests, and then return test samples back to you in a batch to save money?

Yes. If you order multiple tests, you can save money on shipping both to and from our facility. Returning the test requires overnight shipping on dry ice and if you return multiple samples at the same time, this will save considerable money for your clients. Once the sample is drawn, it can be kept safely in a -20 freezer until you have multiple samples to return together.


Do you have a refund policy?

YES

GENIE: A full refund, minus credit card transaction fees of 3% (we cannot recover these fees from a third party processor), is available for your GENIE purchase prior to shipment. After shipment, customers may still cancel the order, but will be charged $100 to cover domestic shipping and kit costs, as well as credit card transaction fees. We cannot reuse the PAXgene tubes that were shipped to you. International orders will have all shipping costs deducted from their refunds, in addition to the $100 for domestic orders. The remaining balance from your purchase will be refunded.


How are multiple orders handled?

When you order between one and three GENIE tests on a single order, the kits will be shipped in a single cooler. You can return the tests all in the same cooler, which saves on shipping back to our lab. An order consisting of more than three GENIE test kits will be shipped in multiple coolers. If you require multiple coolers for orders of less than 3 kits, a separate order must be placed for a cooler.

International orders may be handled differently. Please contact the lab to arrange any special shipment requests.
